Softball Recap: Wake Prep Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Wake Prep Academy had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Franklin Academy Patriots on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Guardians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Charlize Kell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emmy Kirby and Kyndall Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Kirby went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Miller went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Kirby has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Chambers, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Wake Prep Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .743. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Wake Prep Academy's record is now 6-9. As for Franklin Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wake Prep Academy beat the Patriots by a score of 12-5 on Wednesday.
