Recap: StoneBridge Cavaliers vs. Hampton Christian Academy Warriors
The StoneBridge Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their tough 65-45 defeat to Hampton Christian Academy might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for StoneBridge in their matchups with Hampton Christian Academy: they've now lost nine in a row.
Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Thompson, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Garrett Maye, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Sean O'Connor was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points for Hampton Christian Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Khristian Peebles, who scored ten points along with five assists.
StoneBridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Hampton Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
StoneBridge will head out on the road to take on Portsmouth Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Portsmouth Christian is ranked 300th, while StoneBridge is ranked 319th). As for Hampton Christian Academy, Hampton Christian Academy and Atlantic Shores Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
