Softball Recap: Norton Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Norton won the last time they faced Dedham and things went their way on Monday too. The Lancers blew past the Marauders 15-1. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Liana Danubio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Avery Tinkham was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Avery Soares was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Norton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dedham only posted a batting average of .182.

Norton's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Dedham, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4-1.

Coming up, Norton will face off against Norwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 2, the Mustangs 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Dedham, they will challenge Millis at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mohawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Marauders surely won't give up without a fight.
