Softball Preview: Water Canyon Wildcats vs. Millard Eagles

The Water Canyon Wildcats will be playing at home against the Millard Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Water Canyon will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Water Canyon fell victim to South Sevier and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. Their tough 22-0 loss to the Rams might stick with them for a while.

Even though Millard couldn't quite topple Milford on Thursday, it was still a huge improvement compared to the seven-point defeat they took when the two last played. Millard blew past Milford 21-7. The victory was just what Millard needed coming off of a 12-5 loss in their prior matchup.

Macie Wade was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Wade was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kadi Dearden was incredible, scoring five runs while going 4-for-5. Brooklin Reid was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Water Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Millard, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.

Water Canyon might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from Millard in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can Water Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
