Recap: Sage Ridge Scorpions vs. Mineral County Serpents
The Sage Ridge Scorpions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Mineral County 66-25 at home. With that win, Sage Ridge brought their scoring average up to 53.2 points per game.
Sophia Soran was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 36 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Sage Ridge's points. Another player making a difference was Beatrice Liwanag, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Mineral County still got an impressive performance from Taiylor Sanchez, who scored seven points along with seven steals. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Jayona Kimmins was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Mineral County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sage Ridge racked up 13 assists.
Sage Ridge now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mineral County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sage Ridge's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Mineral County, they will be playing at home against Coleville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
