Football Recap: Amplus Academy's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sierra Vista, Amplus Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 24-6 victory over the Durango Trailblazers. That 18 point margin sets a new team best for the Archers this season.

Zailey Anakalea was nothing short of spectacular: she rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Tatianna Kanoa, who threw for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

Anakalea was just one part of a punishing run game: Amplus Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durango only rushed for 50 rushing yards.

Amplus Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Durango, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amplus Academy will square off against Clark at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Durango, they will take on Arbor View at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Priscilla Garcia and Yarih Carrillo.
