Softball Game Preview: Sheridan Yellowjackets vs. Morrilton Devil Dogs

Sheridan is a perfect 4-0 against Morrilton since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Yellowjackets will take on the Devil Dogs at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sheridan comes in on 11 and Morrilton on three.

Sheridan came out on top against Hot Springs on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Harrell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Presley Manning was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sheridan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Morrilton got themselves on the board against Clinton on Friday, but Clinton never followed suit. They blew past the Yellowjackets 11-0. Considering the Devil Dogs have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sheridan's record is now 13-2. As for Morrilton, their record now sits at 11-8.

Sheridan got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Morrilton by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
