Recap: Golden Demons vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars
It was a good run, but the Golden Demons unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They suffered a rough 74-51 loss at the hands of Cherokee Trail. The contest was a close 27-26 at the break, but unfortunately for Golden it sure didn't stay that way.
Golden's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Leif Hansen, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, and Shad Garnett who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Garnett posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Chevalier, who scored four points along with two steals.
Golden's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Cherokee Trail, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden will take on Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eaglecrest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cherokee Trail in Colorado (Eaglecrest is ranked 11th, while Cherokee Trail is ranked 95th).
