Basketball Recap: Oviedo Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lake Howell

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oviedo had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 56-52 W over the Lake Howell Silverhawks. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Silverhawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Oviedo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Terell James out in front who posted 12 points and five steals. That's the most steals James has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cameron Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Howell lost, don't look at Isaac Buckley. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 18 to rack up 27 points and seven boards. Buckley continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Fritz, who put up five points.

Oviedo's record is now 16-11. As for Lake Howell, their loss dropped their record down to 21-6.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lions face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Milton will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Oviedo surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lake Howell, they will host Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Howell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
