Volleyball Recap: Eastern Mennonite Flames vs. New Covenant Gryphons

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Eastern Mennonite couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 3-0 to the New Covenant Gryphons on Wednesday. The Flames haven't had much luck with the Gryphons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-9.

Jordyn Shoemaker paced Eastern Mennonite's offense, picking up five kills. Shoemaker were helped by Layla Von Arnswaldt and Eve Bixler, who contributed seven assists each. Norah Warren controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Embry Carlton had a dynamite game For New Covenant., getting 14 digs and four aces. Carlton is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Eastern Mennonite's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for New Covenant, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Eastern Mennonite does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Covenant, they will face off against North Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
