The Stagg Delta Kings will face off against the Weston Ranch Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stagg will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Stagg barely beat Edison the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Delta Kings put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 13-2 win on Friday. The Delta Kings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Stagg let Patrick Inthasak and Michael Hutchinson run wild. Inthasak scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Hutchinson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Inthasak has posted since back in February. Jackson Brooks was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Stagg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Weston Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sierra. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.
Weston Ranch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Ealy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Ealy's first of the season.
Stagg has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Weston Ranch, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stagg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weston Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Stagg suffered a grim 13-4 defeat to Weston Ranch in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Delta Kings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
