Chatham was handed a nine-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Gretna Hawks 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 back in April.

The team relied heavily on Jasmine Smoot, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

Chatham's record is now 9-10. As for Gretna, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Chatham has already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Altavista on the 23rd. As for Gretna, they will head out on the road to square off against Appomattox County at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Raiders will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
