Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Zapata). They put the hurt on the King Brahmas with a sharp 13-4 win on Tuesday. Considering the Hawks have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lauro Guerra made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Mario Garcia was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). J.D. Salinas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
