Soccer Game Preview: Westside vs. Emerald

The Westside Rams will head out on the road to take on the Emerald Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Westside will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last.

Westside is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Laurens last Thursday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 8-1.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Emerald made sure to put some goals up on the board against Laurens on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Raiders a 10-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Emerald's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Emerald has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matchups. As for Westside, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Westside suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Emerald in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
