La Porte and Valparaiso are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Slicers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Porte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

La Porte took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hebron, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Slicers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks on Monday, sneaking past 4-2.

Addy Bennitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Allie Wiencek was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Shayla Sorg, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Valparaiso finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to Munster. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

The win got La Porte back to even at 11-11. As for Valparaiso, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

Valparaiso's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: La Porte has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Valparaiso, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given La Porte's sizable advantage in that area, the Vikings will need to find a way to close that gap.

La Porte took their victory against Valparaiso in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Slicers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
