Basketball Recap: Landon Savage Key Part of a Team Effort in Trojans Win

Upper Dauphin Area fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 55-46 win over the Newport Buffaloes on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Upper Dauphin Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Savage, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Ethan Groff was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Upper Dauphin Area's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Newport, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Upper Dauphin Area will host Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Upper Dauphin Area has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 172 points over their last three games. As for Newport, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-40 loss against Greenwood on the 14th.
