Basketball Recap: Pearl-Cohn Takes a Loss

Pearl-Cohn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 59-39 to the Beech Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 62nd).

Despite the loss, Pearl-Cohn still got an impressive performance from LaDamion Hunter, who posted 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Hunter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Stephen Saulter was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Pearl-Cohn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Pearl-Cohn's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Beech, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Pearl-Cohn has already played their next match, a 65-59 win against Sycamore on the 17th. As for Beech, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-54 victory against Gallatin on the 17th.
