Football Game Preview: Lafayette Fighting Irish vs. Chillicothe Hornets

The Lafayette Fighting Irish will challenge the Chillicothe Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette has given up an average of 30.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lafayette's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Maryville on Friday. They were beaten by the Spoofhounds 51-0. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Fighting Irish's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chillicothe, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They breezed past Benton to the tune of 37-6 on Friday. Considering the Hornets have won three contests by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

One reason for the win was Chillicothe's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Jaishon White refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Chillicothe's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.7 points over those games. As for Lafayette, their record is now 1-8.

Lafayette was taken down by Chillicothe 35-0 in their previous matchup on October 3rd. Can the Fighting Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
