Softball Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Tesoro Titans

The Mission Viejo Diablos will face off against the Tesoro Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Viejo has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Tesoro will come in with four straight wins.

Friday just wasn't the day for Mission Viejo's offense. They fell 3-0 to Pacifica on Friday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tesoro and Aliso Niguel meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted against the Wolverines since February 15, 2022.

The result came thanks to Loula McNamara's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tesoro saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reese Fraser, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Tesoro's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Mission Viejo, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Mission Viejo couldn't quite finish off Tesoro in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Diablos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
