Basketball Recap: Ella Olthof's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Illiana Christian over Kankakee Valley

On Tuesday, the Illiana Christian Vikings came up short against the Kankakee Valley Kougars and fell 42-32.

Illiana Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ella Olthof, who posted three points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Olthof has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. Sienna Eenigenburg was another key player, putting up seven points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Illiana Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests.

Kankakee Valley found their leader in sophomore Mallorie Rose, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rose has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camry Krueger, who scored nine points and four steals.

Illiana Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Kankakee Valley, they moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Illiana Christian has already played their next game, a 46-40 win against Timothy Christian on the 18th. As for Kankakee Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 45-27 defeat against Munster on the 18th.
