Softball Recap: Manalapan Comes Up Short at Home Against Lacey Township

Manalapan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Lacey Township Lions by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sophia Miranda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Manalapan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Heckel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Manalapan is headed away from home for the first time to take on Point Pleasant Boro at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Lacey Township, they will welcome Point Pleasant Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
