Softball Recap: Hancock Find Success

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Hancock and West Harrison, and Hancock kept the tradition alive. The Hawks came out on top against the Hurricanes by a score of 4-0 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Hurricanes last Tuesday, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Teegan DeWitt made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

DeWitt wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kenleigh McIver, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Abigail Carver, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Hancock's record is now 13-4. As for West Harrison, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Hancock will welcome Long Beach at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for West Harrison, they are taking a road trip to take on Harrison Central at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. The Red Rebels will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight.
