Volleyball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Shepard Astros

The Argo Argonauts will head out on the road to face off against the Shepard Astros at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Argo sitting on eight straight wins and Shepard on three.

Argo can't be too worried about heading out to take on Shepard: they just beat Oak Lawn at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Argonauts skirted past the Spartans 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Argonauts have posted against the Spartans since April 2, 2022.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Argo who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 24-26, 29-27.

Max Campos was the offensive standout of the match as he had 13 digs and one assist. Those 13 digs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Shepard beat Blue Island Eisenhower 2-0 on Tuesday.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Shepard took both sets by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-12.

Shepard's record now sits at 13-8. As for Argo, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Argo was able to grind out a solid victory over Shepard in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Argonauts repeat their success, or do the Astros have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
