Baseball Recap: James Monroe Takes a Loss

After flying high against Summers County last Saturday, James Monroe came back down to earth. James Monroe took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Flying Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

James Monroe saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brycen Parker, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. Carson Koen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

James Monroe's record is now 1-3. As for Woodrow Wilson, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Monroe will venture away from home to face off against Bluefield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will head out to challenge Shady Spring at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
