Softball Recap: Alpine Wins Going Away Against Anthony

Alpine got themselves on the board against Anthony on Monday, but Anthony never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Bucks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Taryn Hardin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Alpine let Zariah Galvan and Jaycee Portillo run wild. Galvan scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Portillo scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Portillo has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rikki Vega, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Alpine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Alpine pushed their record up to 11-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Anthony, Tornillo, and Presidio. As for the Wildcats, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Alpine has already played their next matchup, an 18-0 win against Presidio on the 4th. As for Anthony, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-11 loss against Tornillo on the 4th.
