Basketball Game Preview: Bath County Wildcats vs. Russell Red Devils

Bath County is 0-10 against Russell since December of 2014 but things could change on Saturday. The Bath County Wildcats will host the Russell Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Bath County was able to grind out a solid victory over Bluegrass United, taking the game 50-37. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bluehawks: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Russell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lawrence County 43-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted since December 12, 2024.

Russell has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points over those games. As for Bath County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-19.

Bath County might still be hurting after the 60-38 defeat they got from Russell in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Bath County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
