Baseball Game Preview: Union City Tigers vs. Canute Trojans

The Union City Tigers will challenge the Canute Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Union City and Ninnekah, and Union City kept the tradition alive. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over the Owls on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Cayden Walker was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Union City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Canute entered their tilt with Binger-Oney on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win.

Union City's victory bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Canute, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.

Union City came out on top in a nail-biter against Canute in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
