East Chicago Central's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Gary West Side Cougars with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-10, 25-11.

Lela Edmonds paced East Chicago Central's offense, picking up eight kills. Edmonds got some help from Jaslene Guido and her five assists. Guido also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Zabdi Ortiz-Romero, racking up four apiece.

East Chicago Central's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Gary West Side, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, East Chicago Central will head out on the road to take on 21st Century Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gary West Side, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Illiana Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
