Basketball Recap: Traip Comes Up Short

If Traip was riding high fresh off their 51-28 takedown of Old Orchard Beach last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Traip Rangers took a 33-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dirigo Cougars on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rangers of the 27-22 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Dirigo found their leader in sophomore Abigail Luczynski, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Luczynski has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Nino-Aguirre, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Traip dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Dirigo, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Traip and Massabesic will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th. Dirigo will take on Lisbon in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Dirigo is facing Lisbon at the right time seeing as Lisbon is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
