Baseball Game Preview: Fisher Gators vs. Brusly Panthers

The Fisher Gators will head out on the road to challenge the Brusly Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fisher 3.8, Brusly 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fisher blew South Plaquemines out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday South Plaquemines got their revenge. The Gators fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Gators have suffered since March 25th.

Fisher got a good showing from Patrick Henderson, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Henderson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Colten Kereokowsky made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Charles Shamp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Brusly came tearing into Friday's matchup with 19 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 games by ten runs or more this season.

Brusly's victory bumped their record up to 29-5. As for Fisher, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-8.

Fisher suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Brusly when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
