Basketball Recap: Augusta Southeastern Takes a Loss

Augusta Southeastern lost against Illini West back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Augusta Southeastern Suns took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Illini West Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Suns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 649th, while the Chargers are ranked 253rd).

It was another big night for Wesley Robertson, who went 9 for 21 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds for Illini West. The dominant performance gave Robertson a new career-high in points. Stephen Sparks was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Augusta Southeastern and nudges their season record down to 6-11. As for Illini West, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing West Prairie the next time they take the court. Illini West will head out to face West Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Augusta Southeastern will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
