The Crescent City Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the First Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Crescent City has given up an average of 18 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Crescent City came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-3 to Seabreeze. The Raiders have struggled against the Sandcrabs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Crescent City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenda Earney, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, First Academy entered their tilt with Legacy Charter on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Legacy Charter.
Rebecca Barnett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mad Myers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Keller, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
First Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Crescent City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crescent City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like First Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Crescent City suffered a grim 22-6 defeat to First Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
