Softball Recap: Hamilton's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Hamilton extended their postseason success on Saturday against Argyle. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Scots. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Emerald Knights, who until this contest were averaging 2.86 runs allowed.

Ellie Freeth was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rihana Dye, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Eve McCorkle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The win was the 13th in a row for Hamilton, bringing their record up to 19-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Argyle, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.

As of now, neither Hamilton nor the Scots have any future games scheduled.
