Baseball Game Preview: Mize Bulldogs vs. Richton Rebels

For the second straight game, Mize will face off against Richton. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mize's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.

Mize hadn't beaten Richton on the road since March 29, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Rebels. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Trey Myers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garrison Carrell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Sullivan, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.

Mize's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Richton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Richton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mize has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Richton, though, as they've only averaged .346.
