Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill Panthers vs. Mays Raiders

The Chapel Hill Panthers were the 75-65 winner over the Mays Raiders when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Chapel Hill took a 76-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders on Friday. Chapel Hill has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Mays was led to victory by Davenport Cox and Derron Lindsey ii. Cox shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Lindsey ii scored 35 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lindsey ii has scored at least a third of Mays' points. Jaqorian Wiggles was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 15 rebounds and five assists.

Chapel Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Mays, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapel Hill will take on the Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Creekside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Panthers are ranked 22nd). As for Mays, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
