Volleyball Recap: Refugio's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Refugio can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs.

Refugio not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Nixon-Smiley between 15 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-17.

Cedie Wills was nothing short of spectacular: she had six digs, six aces, and two blocks. Those six aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmyn Howard, who had six kills and four blocks.

Refugio's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Nixon-Smiley, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Refugio will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against George West at 6:05 p.m. on September 2. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will venture away from home to challenge Runge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
