Basketball Recap: Rushville Comes Up Short

Rushville lost against Union County back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rushville Lions fell to the Union County Patriots 44-38. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Rushville still got an impressive performance from XxZavien Jenkins, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zy Adams, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rushville was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only racked up six assists.

Nick Watterson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union County, going 7 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Coyle, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points.

Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Union County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Rushville will challenge East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rushville is facing East Central at the right time seeing as East Central is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Union County, they will face off against Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
