Baseball Game Preview: Murphy Panthers vs. Excel Panthers

Murphy are taking a road trip to take on Excel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Murphy put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They blew past Williamson 16-7. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

While Excel didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Blacksher on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Trent Williams was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Mason Goldman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Excel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blacksher only posted an OBP of .318.

Murphy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Excel, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
