Softball Recap: Big Walnut Takes a Loss

Big Walnut was the 17-7 winner over Thomas Worthington when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Big Walnut fell just short of Thomas Worthington by a score of 12-11 on Monday.

Kyra Holmes was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Melton, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Big Walnut now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Thomas Worthington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Big Walnut is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Dublin Jerome at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thomas Worthington, they will take on St. Francis DeSales at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Worthington is facing St. Francis DeSales at the right time seeing as St. Francis DeSales is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
