Baseball Recap: Deerfield Finds Home Field Redemption Against Parkview

There's no place like home for Deerfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Parkview Vikings 5-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Demons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Aiden Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Declan Pohlman was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Sigurslid, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Deerfield's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Parkview, they moved to 6-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deerfield will host Lakeside Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Demons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Parkview, they will face off against Palmyra-Eagle at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
