Softball Recap: Palmer Has No Trouble Against Commerce

Palmer barely beat Commerce the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Raiders 24-3 on Friday. The matchup marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.

Jillian Holbrook was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Palmer let Jaclyn Swiatlowski and Hannah Roy run wild. Swiatlowski got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Roy went 2-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Roy has posted since back in April. Eldi Arroyo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Palmer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Palmer's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Commerce, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

As of now, neither Palmer nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
