Basketball Recap: Spring Creek Finds Playoff Glory Versus Dayton

With a playoff win on the line, Spring Creek rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Dayton Dust Devils by a score of 67-56. 67 seems to be a good number for the Spartans as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Scott Bylund continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6-for-11 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Djrevan Demick, who posted nine points and seven steals.

Spring Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive games.

Several Dust Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Talan Brown, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in December of 2024. Issac Powell was another key player, going 8-for-13 en route to 20 points and four steals.

Spring Creek is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points over those games. Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Spring Creek has already played their next contest, a 44-43 defeat against Fernley on the 15th. Dayton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
