Basketball Recap: Thorndale Bulldogs vs. Schulenburg Shorthorns
Thorndale and Schulenburg squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Thorndale had to settle for second. They took a 38-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Schulenburg Shorthorns. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Shorthorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Schulenburg was led to victory by Jashiya Jackson and Arianna Vincent. Jackson posted five points and 11 rebounds, while Vincent went 5-for-11 on her way to 11 points and six boards. Jackson is becoming a predictor of Schulenburg's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 9-1 (and 9-11 when she doesn't). Jenna Guentert was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven boards and four steals.
Thorndale's loss dropped their record down to 17-15. As for Schulenburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season.
Thorndale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Schulenburg, they will venture away from home to challenge Danbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
