Highland takes loss despite strong performances from George Mcconkie and Bodie Dodge

Recap: Highland Rams vs. Alta Hawks

On Friday, the Highland Rams faced the Alta Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Highland fell to Alta 54-50. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Highland in their matchups with Alta: they've now lost four in a row.

Highland's loss came despite strong showings from Bodie Dodge and George Mcconkie. Dodge scored 17 points along with two steals, while Mcconkie almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Dodge scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Gaddis, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

Alta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dash Reiser out in front who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Doleac, who scored 15 points.

Highland's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Alta, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

Highland will head out on the road to challenge East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Highland is ranked 13th). As for Alta, they will be playing at home against West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Alta's favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while West has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
