Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Brookside

There's no place like home for Brookside, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 74-66 win over the Keystone Wildcats on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Wildcats are ranked 169th).

When it comes to explaining why Keystone lost, don't look at Liam Goran. Despite the final result, he went 12 for 20 on his way to 32 points and three steals. The game was Goran's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Cowling, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards.

Brookside pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.5 points per game. As for Keystone, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookside will head out to challenge Vermilion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookside is facing Vermilion at the right time seeing as Vermilion is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Keystone, they will head out on the road to square off against Black River at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
