Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Alhambra

Alhambra entered their tilt with Pinole Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Spartans 7-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

Not much got past Willa Adler, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Pinole Valley off the board. Adler has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Genevieve Hernandez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nichaela West, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Alhambra's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pinole Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alhambra will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northgate at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Pinole Valley, they will take on Analy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
