Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Comes Up Short

Cristo Rey lost to St. Anthony back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Trailblazers fell 25-17 to the Roman Legion.

Despite the loss, Cristo Rey saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jimena Mata posted ten points. That was a full 58.8% of the Trailblazers' points, marking the fourth time in a row Mata has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Cristo Rey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for St. Anthony, their record now sits at 8-13.

Coming up, Cristo Rey will face off against Shoreland Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trailblazers will be up against the Pacers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.48 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for St. Anthony, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-8 loss against St. Joan Antida/Tenor/Veritas on the 19th.
