Baseball Recap: Campo Verde Coyotes vs. Desert Mountain Wolves
Campo Verde extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-11 in the process. They fell 8-5 to the Desert Mountain Wolves. The Coyotes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Campo Verde got a good showing from Gavin Lambright, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lambright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ezekiel Zion made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run was his first of the season.
As for Desert Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

Desert Mountain is 8-1 when Starbuck posts two or more runs, but 3-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Kearns, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
While Campo Verde had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
