Basketball Game Preview: Martin County Gators vs. Gates County Red Barons

Martin County is 0-4 against Gates County since January of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Martin County Gators will take on the Gates County Red Barons at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Martin County came up short against Currituck County and fell 48-40.

Meanwhile, Gates County's undefeated season came to an end after 18 games on Monday. The match between them and Perquimans didn't end well, with Gates County falling 56-42. The loss put an end to the Red Barons' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gates County fell to 18-1. As for Martin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Martin County suffered a grim 52-28 defeat to Gates County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Martin County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
