Baseball Game Preview: Ocean Lakes Dolphins vs. Cox Falcons

Ocean Lakes is 2-8 against Cox since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Ocean Lakes will welcome Cox at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Ocean Lakes proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 14) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Princess Anne.

Luke Ellison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ocean Lakes' victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Gocio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That run marked the first that Gocio scored this season.

Meanwhile, on Saturday Cox's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against St. Ignatius. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since April 15, 2024.

Cox pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ocean Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
